Copenhagen | City Break | My Swft City

Copenhagen

Copenhagen is rated as the happiest city in Europe, and the more you explore, the more you’ll discover why. This scandi-cool, culinary powerhouse combines all the attributes of a hip and contemporary capital city, with the cobbled streets, tradition and hygge that have seen it explode into one of Europe’s premier city-break destinations.

One of the cleanest and greenest cities in the world, in Copenhagen, cycling is the mode of transport and as it’s relatively compact, it’s an easy place to get around. Which is just what you need on a quick weekend getaway.
The opulent Christiansborg Palace, on the islet of Slotsholmen in the heart of the city, boasts a thousand years of royal history. The famous statue of The Little Mermaid, from the book by Denmark’s literary legend Hans Christian Andersen, is another popular tourist hotspot. Meanwhile, the picturesque Tivoli Gardens are home to a charming modernised 19th century entertainment park and a spectacular Christmas Market.
For vintage shops, street art and summertime street markets, head to Vesterbro, Copenhagen’s coolest neighbourhood, where you’ll also find fashionable cafes, independent craft breweries and trendy galleries. A visit to Freetown Christiania is also an experience. This green and car free city-within-a-city is now home to art galleries, organic cafes and a very novel way of life.

Of course, Copenhagen is also a global foodie haven, with no less than 15 michelin starred restaurants, including Noma, often referred to as the world’s finest. Recent years have seen several sous-chefs from the big-hitters splintering, creating numerous affordable and exciting restaurants throughout the city. Just a stone’s throw away, your free travel concierge could have you there by morning.
